Filming Location: Boulangerie Sudo

Tourists may not be familiar with the name of this place. We also didn’t know anything about it until we saw one of Himitsu no Arashi-chan episodes (TBS, aired 2011.04.28). Nino and Leader took the guest, Horikita Maki, to one bread shop in Setagaya.

For the sake of variety show, they had a quiz where they guessed the price of the served breads. Nino won the first question so he was able to eat the first bread, one of the most popular ones. And his reaction upon eating it has led us to this bread shop.

Honey Toast @ 280

Honey Toast

Yes, this is the bread that Nino said “mecha umai!”. To be honest, once we ate it,  we didn’t have the same reaction as Nino’s. The bread tasted too sweet for us, but its texture and color were perfect. It costs only ¥280 each. Please try it and let us know your thought!

Maki-chan won the second game and it was Eggplant and Sausage Tartine that she ate. We decided not to try it, but we bought other breads and they were delicious! Have a look on what this shop serves and you will want to taste them all.

Boulangerie Sudo is located just few steps away from Shoin-jinja-mae Station in Setagaya-ku. This area is popular for having the most number of bread shops in Tokyo. To reach this place, there is special tram called Tokyu Setagaya Line with line length only 5 km and flat fare ( ¥150). Unlike Tokyo metro or subway, this tram rides on the ground, so the passengers can see the area through the window.

As shown above, the shop is right in front of the rail line. It is not big, but it feels literally and emotionally warm inside. The staffs are also nice and friendly. You may check Sudo-san’s instragam for the pictures and news of this bread shop.

Beginilah reaksinya:

Bahkan Ohno baru liat Nino bilang enak sampe segitunya

Bahkan Ohno katany baru lihat Nino bilang enak sampe segitunya

Benarkah se-mecha umai itu? Penasaran, kami pun beli Honey Toast seharga ¥280. Hmm.. tekstur dan warnanya sih ok, tapi menurut kami rasanya terlalu manis, ga seenak yang dibayangkan. Nino lebay nih ah :p
