Halal Restaurant: Yoshiya Oku no Niwa, Kyoto

Wow, we can’t believe that after six years blogging, this is the first time we write a post about Kyoto! Kyoto had been in our bucket list especially since we wanted to visit Arashiyama during Sakura season, but only until last December I finally stepped my foot on Kyoto. Not for Sakura viewing (well… obiviously…), but to try a restaurant that offer Halal washoku dish near Arashiyama area.

Yoshiya Kyoto

The restaurant has been offered Halal dishes for several years, it also strategically located just along the Arashiyama Park Rinsen-ji Area. Once you’ve reached the bridge to Arashiyama Park, turn left and walk for about 5 minutes until you see the Yoshiya sign.

I arrived a little bit early for lunch, which I intentionally did to avoid rush hour. I was hoping to got seated near the garden area but that area was already full. I ordered a lunch set menu which consist of croquette (their specialty I assume), tempura, grilled fish, and tofu soup.

I have to say the taste is just okay, it just like the taste that you get from an ekiben. The service time took so long even without many customers during my visit.

They also provide prayer room for Muslim customer. No wonder they asked you to take a pray first while waiting for the food to be served.

There is also a Halal certified souvenir corner just beside the restaurant. So I think this restaurant give a wholesome service for Muslim traveller.
